Post-Op Instructions
Congratulations on choosing to save your natural tooth with root canal therapy. The root canal system has been cleaned, shaped, and filled. You now have a temporary restoration that will need to have a permanent restoration placed by your general dentist.
It is extremely vital that you make an appointment with your general dentist to obtain a permanent restoration on the tooth so it does not become re-infected. Please try to make the appointment for two to four weeks after the root canal therapy is completed.
If the permanent restoration is not placed in a timely manner, there is a strong possibility that the tooth may fracture or become re-infected. As the tooth heals, it is normal for you to feel some tenderness over the next few days to a week.
Please follow the instructions that were given to you at the time of the appointment. If you have misplaced the copy of post-op instructions you were given after your treatment, please call the office and we will provide you with a new copy.
Please call our office if you have any of the following symptoms:
- Severe pain
- Visible swelling
- Allergic reaction
- Uneven bite
- Return of the original symptoms
